Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Awesome Szasz, LLC handles personal information in connection with the computer integrated systems design services provided from our workspace in Salt Lake City, Utah. The developer responsible for the design and maintenance of this website is Awesome Szasz, who works alongside the bench team on documentation, record keeping and the everyday care of client systems. This policy describes the information we gather, why we gather it, how long we keep it and the choices available to people who deal with us.
We wrote this policy in plain English because a privacy notice is only useful when a reader can follow it. Where a term has a specific meaning in law, we explain that meaning in ordinary words. Where our practice is deliberately cautious, we say so. Nothing in this policy changes the terms of any service agreement a client has signed with us, and nothing here limits rights that applicable law grants to a person regardless of what a contract says.
By visiting this website, requesting a bench window, bringing equipment to our intake bays or corresponding with our team, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If any part of it is unclear, please write to us before sharing personal information with the workshop.
Scope of This Policy
This policy covers information collected through this website, through email and telephone conversations with our team, through the paper and electronic records kept at the bench, and through the delivery of services in our Salt Lake City workshop. It applies to prospective clients, active clients, former clients, visitors to the site and any other person whose information reaches us in the ordinary course of work.
The policy does not apply to systems that we repair but do not own. When a client system stores personal information, that information belongs to the client, and the client remains responsible for it. Our work on such systems is carried out under the written work order, and any personal information we notice in the course of that work is treated as confidential material belonging to the client.
The policy also does not cover third party websites that may be linked from our pages. Those sites operate under their own notices, and we encourage you to read them before providing information.
Who We Are
Awesome Szasz, LLC is a limited liability company organized in the United States and operating from 1234 E Bryan Ave, Salt Lake City - 84105-2510, United States (US). The company provides computer integrated systems design and related professional, scientific and technical services. For the purposes of data protection law, the company is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
Questions about privacy can be directed to relay@awesomeszasz.buzz or by telephone at +18318810468. We prefer written requests because they create a clear record for both sides, but we will accept a telephone request when a person asks us to.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three broad ways: information a person gives us directly, information created as part of a bench job, and information recorded automatically when this website is used. Each category is described below.
Directly provided information includes a name, an email address, a telephone number, a business name, a job title, a mailing address and any description of a system or problem that a person chooses to share. When someone uses the contact form on this site, the fields they complete are used to prepare a reply. Messages sent by email or received by telephone are handled in the same way.
Bench job information includes the intake tag, work order, test record and pickup slip created for a job. It may include serial numbers, configuration details, software licence identifiers, account names and a record of accessories delivered with a unit. This information is necessary to complete the work and to be able to answer questions months later.
Automatically recorded information is limited to what a standard web server observes: the requested page, the date and time of a request, the browser type reported by the visitor and a coarse indication of network origin. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles, and we do not attempt to identify a visitor from it.
Intake Tags and Bench Records
The intake tag is the heart of our record keeping. It captures what arrived, when it arrived, the condition observed and the configuration history the client can recall. Photographs are taken when a unit has cosmetic marks, so that both sides can rely on the same evidence later. A copy of the tag is given to the client at intake, which means the client holds the same summary we hold.
The work order records the tasks planned, the expected result of each, the bench window assigned and the person who signs off. The test record captures the result of each routine run during a bench test window. The pickup slip records what was collected, when, and by whom, and it never contains credentials. Credentials are handed over in a sealed form or reset in the presence of the client.
These records contain business information far more often than personal information, but a work order may include the name of a person who coordinates the job or the name of a staff member who signs a hand-back. That personal information is used only for the job, and it is kept for the period described in the retention section below.
How We Use Information
We use personal information to reply to inquiries, to schedule intake appointments and bench windows, to prepare work orders, to complete tests, to release finished systems, to issue invoices and to keep the records required for a professional services business. We also use information to answer follow-up questions and to plan tune-up sittings that are relevant to a client estate.
With consent, we may send a short note about new bench capacity, a seasonal sitting schedule or a practical article about integrated systems. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by replying to the note or by writing to relay@awesomeszasz.buzz. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier communications.
We do not sell personal information. We do not trade personal information for advertising. We do not use personal information to train machine learning models for third parties, and we do not permit a vendor to do so with information we hold.
Legal Bases for Processing
Where data protection law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on one of the following. Performance of a contract applies when we handle information needed to deliver a service that has been requested. Legitimate interests applies when we keep bench records, answer questions and secure our work, provided those interests are not overridden by the rights of the person concerned. Consent applies to optional communications and to any activity that we describe as requiring agreement.
Legal obligation applies when a record must be kept, such as a financial record or a document required for a dispute. Vital interests would apply only in an emergency, and we do not expect to rely on that basis in the ordinary course of business.
Where the law of a jurisdiction requires a different theory, such as a notice and choice model, we apply that model for people in that jurisdiction and explain the difference in this policy.
Service Providers and Vendors
We rely on a small number of service providers for ordinary business functions such as email delivery, website hosting and accounting. Each provider is chosen for reliability and is expected to protect information it receives. Where a provider processes information on our behalf, we require a written arrangement that limits the use of that information to the service we requested.
Vendors that supply replacement parts may receive the model and serial number of a component. They do not receive client contact records or system contents. Couriers receive delivery details only. A payment processor, when one is used, receives the payment details needed to complete a transaction and handles those details under its own security program.
We review these relationships from time to time. If a provider can no longer meet our expectations, we replace it and take reasonable steps to have information returned or deleted.
International Transfers
Our workshop is in the United States. If a person contacts us from another country, information will be processed in the United States, where privacy law may differ from the law of the person home country. Where a transfer requires additional protection, we use appropriate safeguards and we will explain those safeguards on request.
A visitor who prefers to keep information within a particular region should contact us before sharing details. In some cases we can adapt how a job is handled, though certain records must be kept where the service is performed.
Retention of Records
Bench records are kept for as long as needed to support the work and to answer later questions. In practice this means intake tags, work orders, test records and pickup slips are retained for a period of several years after a job closes, in line with the ordinary record keeping needs of a professional services business and with applicable tax and dispute rules. After that period, records are reviewed and securely destroyed.
Marketing contact details are kept until a person withdraws consent or becomes inactive for a long period, at which point they are removed. Website server records are kept briefly for operational purposes and then discarded under the hosting provider schedule.
If a person asks us to delete information, we will do so unless a legal or contractual obligation requires retention. When retention is required, we will explain the reason and keep the information limited to that purpose.
Security Practices
We protect information with measures suited to a small professional workshop. Access to bench records is limited to staff who need it for a job. Paper records are kept in a locked area when the workshop is closed. Electronic records are stored on accounts protected by strong passwords and, where available, a second factor. Credentials handed over at the pickup desk are sealed or reset on the spot so they are never left loose.
No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects personal information, we will investigate promptly, take steps to contain it and notify affected persons and any required authority in line with applicable law. We ask that anyone who suspects unauthorized access contact us quickly so that we can respond.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where a person lives, the law may provide the right to know what information we hold, the right to receive a copy, the right to correct inaccuracies, the right to delete information, the right to restrict or object to processing, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. These rights are not absolute, and a request may be limited where the law permits or requires us to keep information.
To make a request, write to relay@awesomeszasz.buzz and describe what you would like us to do. We will confirm receipt, verify identity using information already on file, and respond within the time allowed by law. Verification protects clients against an impostor attempting to obtain records about someone else system.
Registered users in the European Economic Area may lodge a complaint with a local supervisory authority. Other regions may offer a similar route through a privacy regulator. We would appreciate the chance to resolve a concern directly first.
California Residents
California law gives residents specific rights regarding personal information. Residents may request to know the categories of information collected, the sources of that information, the business purpose for collection and the categories of third parties with whom information is shared. Residents may also request deletion, correction and, where applicable, the ability to limit certain uses of sensitive information.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising. Because we do not engage in those activities, there is no sale or sharing to opt out of. If our practice ever changes, this section will be updated and an opt out mechanism will be provided before the change takes effect.
Requests may be made by email at relay@awesomeszasz.buzz or by telephone at +18318810468. An authorized agent may submit a request on behalf of a resident when written authorization is provided. We will not discriminate against a person for exercising a privacy right.
Privacy for Children
Our services are directed to businesses and professional teams. This website is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under the age of thirteen. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided information to us, please contact relay@awesomeszasz.buzz and we will delete it promptly.
Where a client system contains information about minors, that information is treated as confidential client material. Our staff do not inspect such content beyond what is technically necessary to complete the work order.
Marketing Communications
We send marketing messages only to people who have asked for them or who have a current professional relationship with the workshop and can reasonably expect occasional practical updates. Every message includes a way to stop receiving further messages, and a request to stop is honored promptly.
Operational messages, such as a reminder about a scheduled bench window or a pickup slip confirmation, are part of the service and may be sent even when marketing has been declined.
Third Party Sites
Pages on this site may link to resources maintained by other organizations. Those resources have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for the content or the practices of a site we do not control. A link does not imply that we endorse a third party practice or that we have reviewed it recently.
When a third party site collects information, the collection is governed by that site notice. Please read it before providing information, particularly where a form asks for financial details or an account password.
Changes to This Policy
We review this policy when our practices change, when the law changes or when a client raises a question that reveals a gap. When we make a material change, we will update the policy on this page and adjust the effective date shown at the end of the document. We encourage clients to revisit the page from time to time.
If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to the attention of active clients by email. Continued use of the website or continued engagement of the workshop after a change takes effect indicates acceptance of the updated policy, except where applicable law requires a different form of consent.
